Are You

Put a smile on my face. 🙂

Strangers And Poetry

Are you the captain,

I’m just the guy

Who sails the boat,

Hopes like hell

It stays afloat,

Are you the poet,

I’m just the guy

The words flow through,

Hopes like hell

They’re sometimes true.

[POEM] The Day

what-happens-to-your-credit-when-you-get-marriedThere once was a man who got married

to the love of his life. Oh, how merry.

He chose not out of fear,

but of love for his dear

to marry on Valentine’s Day.

I know, I know, limericks are supposed to be funny and slightly inappropriate. Oh well. A little Valentine ditty for you all, for the Poet’s Corner Valentine Poem Challenge.. And yes, this is a true story. My parents’ anniversary is Saturday. 🙂

[BLOG] The Discussion: Essays and Contemplations

Hello again all.

If you’ve noticed anything different about Virginia the Viruliferous’ main page, you’ll note that there’s a new Widget on the right side bar, a recent posts tab. This is for my new blog, The Discussion. This blog is meant to be an open forum site for essays, articles, and general discussion pieces. It is open to contributor posts, and has a submission form for content if you are interested in submitting a piece. There are no topic restrictions; the only rule is civility in all things. Be civil in how you present your content, and civil in how you discuss that content in the comments. If you miss my old articles and ‘rants’ you may want to follow The Discussion; I hope to delve back into some old topics here. Note, however, that I am open to any topic content, and there may be completely opposing articles posted here as well, even back to back perhaps. That is the nature of this new forum. I hope to see you there, and perhaps see your content posted there someday. Until then, cheers.

[DISCUSS] Concepts and Opinions on an Anthology by Me

anthology keep calmGood Sunday evening to you all.

I bet you can’t guess what I’ve been contemplating the past few weeks. I’ve been sifting through my old poetry on here and in my personal files at home, looking for inspirations for revisions, old forms I haven’t used in a while, or just revitalizing old topics. The more I look through my works, the more I think there’s something really there. Maybe not poet laureate of the country or even a state, like my old high school English teacher, Dana Sauers, but perhaps someone would be interested in supporting my work in more than just clicks and a few nice words on a screen.

So what do you all think? Would you be interested in a full collection of my poetry, refined, with new pieces I’ve never published on any forums besides my notebooks under my pillow? Let me know in the comments. Cheers all.

Please share to show my pupils how far a photo can go (even if you don’t want it to!)

Why not, it said even if you don’t want to, and I don’t want to, so fuck it.

Not about everything

Sharing this, because it seems an interesting lesson.

I am teaching E-safety to my pupils at the moment and wanted to try a little experiment. Please share this photo and see how far it gets, I want to show my students how easily photos etc can go viral, even when you may not want them to. Share it and see how far it goes!

The True Purpose Of Beliefs

An absolutely brilliant philosophical observation that I had to share.

The Buddha's Hotdog

When it comes to beliefs, all along, we have been drinking from the wrong side of the cup.

Beliefs are not meant to be tools for recording reality, they are meant to be for creating it.

Beliefs shape reality more than reality shapes beliefs.

We are not rational, truth-calculating machines. We don’t believe things because they are true, but rather because they provide a psychological payoff. And we act in ways to bring about or reinforce their truth.
